Whenever Simon Bales enters the gym, the Olympics or the World Championships, she immediately draws the most attention to it.
Today (Tuesday), in contrast to the headlines about her past achievements and victories, everyone who watches the Tokyo Games is busy with her mysterious retirement from the team finals.
Is this a mental problem?
Is she injured?
And most importantly - what will happen to her participation in the final battle, which is scheduled to take place on Thursday at 13:50.
After a rumor mill about the reason for her retirement, a gymnast explained what she went through and provided very strong statements confirming that she was not suffering from an injury but a mental problem: "I think mental health is more relevant in sports right now. After my performance I decided I did not want to continue. We will take the "Time now and we'll see what happens. We'll see what happens on Thursday."
On rumors that she was injured, she said: "This is an injury to my pride. I need to focus on my mental health. I need to keep my body and mind and not just go out and do what the world wants us to do."

As you may recall, the American Gymnastics Association has issued an official statement, in which it clarified that this is a medical problem, but only exacerbated the mystery.
"Simon Bales has retired from the group gymnastics finals due to a medical problem. She will undergo further tests to see if she will be fit to continue the competitions," read a statement that effectively left the doubt about her appearance at the record event.
The union's statement contradicts the words of her coach, who confirmed that it was not an injury, but a "mental problem," as he defined it.
These things connect to a post she posted yesterday on Instagram, in which she wrote "I feel like the weight of the whole world is on my shoulders. I know it looks like I've waving the pressure off and not letting it affect me, but sometimes it's really hard."
