The Department of Justice issued a statement in the evening stating that judges must handle cases strictly in accordance with applicable laws and evidence when exercising judicial powers, and are protected by Article 85 of the Basic Law to conduct trials independently without any interference.


According to the Department of Justice, judges are intimidated and threatened for their personal safety for performing their judicial functions. The SAR government must strictly enforce the law and will never tolerate such despicable acts that ignore the law and undermine the rule of law. The police will arrest criminals as soon as possible. The statement pointed out that in accordance with Article 24 of the Criminal Offences Ordinance, threatening another person to cause personal damage is a crime. Once convicted by indictment, the penalty is five years in prison.

The Department of Justice warned that intimidation is a serious crime and no one should try the law.
