TSV Schongau is struggling: That became clear at the latest delegates' meeting in the Lechsporthalle.

The loss of membership and the large construction site ice rink are affecting the association.

And more than ever he depends on the city of Schongau.

Schongau

- The TSV chairman Ralf Konstantin expressed the first major concern when he welcomed the 84 eligible voters who had taken their places on long benches and boxes in the hall: the lack of offspring.

"The children had no lobby for a year and a half, everything was forbidden," he summarized the time of the pandemic.

"Children do not do sport alone, they need the community."

This thesis is also borne out by the numbers.

Last year the TSV had a good 2500 members, this year it was only 2200. According to Konstantin, this is not due to the resignations, they remained the same.

But there are no new registrations.

Over 300 members lost

According to the chairman, all departments have easily lost members, in total just over 300. And that especially in the age group up to 17 years.

“We have to put our full concentration on the youth work,” he appealed to the delegates.

The board of directors already had an idea to make it more attractive: They submitted an application to reduce the membership fees for the main association by 50 percent for the current year.

However, only if the Schongau city council would agree to a so-called “reimbursement of the TSV's deposits in the operating costs account ice rink”.

It concerns an amount of 89,000 euros.

The delegates voted in favor of the motion with one abstention.

No budget currently set up

Treasurer Sabine Weith made it clear how financially the TSV is doing.

Last year the main club recorded revenues of around 548,000 euros.

The main share is made up of the membership fees with 239,000 euros.

Followed by grants of 117,000 euros and donations of 33,000 euros.

The renovation of the ice rink was also discussed.

The expenditure side is 559,000 euros, with the maintenance of the sports facilities including ancillary costs being around 141,000 euros and “other” such as taxes and costs for the tax advisor at 95,000 euros.

In addition, there are expenses for the trainers in the amount of 61,000 euros, 15,000 euros in personnel costs and 32,000 euros in remuneration for the Corona year.

The bottom line is a minus of almost 11,000 euros.

With the blessing of the delegates, the treasurer has not drawn up a budget for the current year: “Too unsafe”.

"Then we turn off the light there"

The ailing ice rink is also a factor of uncertainty.

“If the city council votes against financial support, we will turn off the light there and lock it,” Ralf Konstantin made clear.

Currently, in the application to the city, said 89,000 euros, which the TSV would like to have reimbursed, as well as a deficit compensation of the operating costs account of around 43,000 euros.

In addition, the TSV would like a "prospect of further approval of the grants (...) to cover the planning costs for upcoming measures at the Schongau ice rink".

And that could be expensive.

TSV can contribute a maximum of 10,000 euros

The repair of the cooling supply shaft in the stadium has already taken place: The head of the ice skating department, Franz Andergassen, took care of this himself with his company. Cost: 34,000 euros. 4000 euros for this came from the TSV, for the remaining amount a loan was taken out.

But now, among other things, the renovation of the stadium roof is due.

If you decide to reinforce the roof, it would cost 560,000 euros, according to an estimate.

The city of Schongau should pay the majority of 336,000 euros.

As a plus, those responsible have listed an amount of 15,000 euros in their own contribution in the financial plan.

"The TSV can add a maximum of 10,000 euros," said Konstantin.

As an alternative, roof heating could be installed for 275,000 euros, which, according to Konstantin, would cause annual operating costs of between 50,000 and 75,000 euros.

Some items on the to-do list

Variant three would be to completely close the stadium walls to keep the moisture out and to install a ventilation system.

Construction site number two in the ice rink is the changing and technical building. There are also three possible variants: the renovation of the ground floor and fire protection measures on the upper floor (1.7 million euros), additional static retrofitting (2.9 million) or the demolition and new construction of the entire building (3.2 million). The ice rink is the largest item that will keep TSV busy in the coming year, depending on the outcome of the city council meeting.

But also the renovation of the changing rooms and the TSV square on Marktoberdorfer Straße are on the to-do list as well as repairs to the canoe home.

So it is probably not a disadvantage that there were no changes in the board of directors in the new elections.

All previous officials were unanimously elected for the next two years: Chairman Ralf Konstantin, Anschi Haberstock as his deputy, treasurer Sabine Weith, secretary Angela Konstantin, Gerhard Stanke as consultant for public relations, Wolfgang Klein as technical director, Claudia Gleich as consultant for trainers and teaching as well as Johanna Hentschke and Karin Riedl as auditors.
