Legislative Councillor Jiang Liyun pointed out that the specialist services in West Kowloon are currently insufficient, and the public generally have to wait at least two years, and the otolaryngology department in the district has to wait at least three years.

She said that some elderly people with cataracts reported to her that their eyesight began to deteriorate and they waited for services. When they are now completely blind, they cannot be assigned to specialist services.

She continued to point out that medical problems stem from the rising population and the rapid aging rate, but the number of medical staff cannot keep up. She believes that the introduction of overseas doctors must be accelerated to meet the demand.

She suggested that the government should first expand the services of health centres, such as adding some preliminary examinations, to reduce the burden on public hospitals.

Advocate lowering the age of medical voucher use to 60 years old

Chen Kaixin believes that the current medical policy of the government is to "emphasize treatment and neglect prevention," but prevention is equally important.

If the government does not pay attention to prevention, public hospitals will only continue to be forced to explode.

In addition, she suggested that the government should make good use of medical vouchers so that the elderly can be diverted to other private clinics to receive treatment as soon as possible.

She mentioned that the government did not increase the amount of medical vouchers after 2014. It has been maintained at 2,000 yuan, and it was changed to be used by seniors over 65 years old in 2017.

She believes that the $2 car ride plan for 60-year-olds will be implemented next year, and the use of medical vouchers should be the same. She also proposed to increase the amount of medical vouchers so that more elders can apply.

The Finance Committee approved the allocation of 30.6 billion Kai Tak to build a new acute hospital. The blueprint for the health development of primary care will be consulted by the public. Chen Zhaoshi: Hope to promote the exchange of electronic medical records.
