The international conference and the joint session of the Syrian-Russian Coordination Center for the Sputnik vaccine discussed general ways of preventing corona, the target groups for the vaccine, the conditions for its transfer, interactions, side effects, and post-vaccination recommendations.

The conference, which was held remotely, was organized by the Russian Ministry of Health and the Russian Ministries of Health and Defense in cooperation with the Russian National Medical Research Center for Treatment and Preventive Medicine and the Preventive Medicine Faculty of the Russian Federation under the title (Ways to increase the effectiveness of vaccination against the emerging corona virus, quality and absorptive capacity).

The activities of the conference, which is organized as part of the activities of the Syrian-Russian joint meeting to follow up the work of the international conference on the return of Syrian refugees and displaced persons, included introductory presentations on the results of the Sputnik vaccine, its interactions and contraindications, conditions for its storage and transportation, post-vaccination recommendations and method of use in case of pregnancy and lactation, and the presence of communicable and chronic diseases.

Head of the Syrian team of the Sputnik Vaccine Working Group, Director of Readiness, Ambulance and Emergency at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Tawfiq Hassa, noted in a speech to him the Russian support by providing the vaccine and medical assistance to enhance Syria’s response to the Corona pandemic, explaining that the conference aims to answer inquiries related to the use of the vaccine and contraindications and investigate side effects. .

In turn, the head of the Russian team, Colonel Alexander Asaul, pointed to the recent supply of 250 thousand doses of the Sputnik Lite vaccine and one million test strips to detect the emerging corona virus, expressing his hope for the success of cooperation between the two countries in combating the virus and increasing the volume of aid, which increases the opportunity to protect Syrians from the pandemic.

In an online speech, the Director of the National Foundation for Medical Research Center, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine and General Medicine at the Center for Treatment and Preventive Medicine, Dr. Aksana Mikhaylevna, explained the importance of the session to exchange experiences regarding the Sputnik vaccine, its use, and information on its effectiveness and safety.

The Director of Communicable and Chronic Diseases at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Jamal Khamis, indicated that the Directorate is making great efforts to confront this pandemic, expressing his hope to intensify cooperation between Syria and Russia to conduct studies and research on the effects of the vaccine.

Director of Laboratories at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Muhannad Khalil, praised the assistance provided by Russia, especially in the field of supporting coronavirus tests, considering that the latest batch came at the right time to enhance the ability of Syrian laboratories to investigate infections, especially in light of the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria, which impede its response to the pandemic. .
