The mayor was probably a little hasty: Andreas Janson recently announced that daycare fees would rise sharply.

But he is not allowed to decide on his own.

Feldkirchen

- On April 29, Mayor Andreas Janson (UWV) informed the local council that he had increased the fees for all daycare centers by ten percent as of January 1, 2022.

But he was not allowed to do this alone, so the main committee had to decide now.

Against the votes of the SPD, the result remains the same.

Janson said at the time that he could decide this fee increase on his own and that he had therefore done so after consulting the management of the daycare facilities.

SPD councilor Christian Wilhelm had not only criticized the increase as completely nonsensical, "we will have an unexpected surplus of 2.1 million euros in the budget in 2020, so I see absolutely no point in burdening the parents additionally, some of which is already due to Corona have high loads ".

In addition, Wilhelm questioned the actions of Mayor Janson, he was firmly convinced that, according to the rules of procedure, the mayor should never have decided this alone.

For this criticism, Wilhelm had to take a sharp rebuke from branch manager Heinz-Josef Reiser that Wilhelm should simply get better information.

First ruffle, then sorry

Even Stefan Seiffert (CSU), although he had voted for the increase, by no means agreed with the mayor's approach and switched on the municipal supervision in the district office. From there came the clear statement that "the determination of the parental contribution is actually not to be viewed as an ongoing matter for the First Mayor, but rather a treatment as an item on the agenda and subsequent resolution, however not in the municipal council, but in the main, finance and social committee, is to be carried out ".

Reiser again apologized to Wilhelm for his mistake and criticism.

He stated once again that the SPD parliamentary group was against an increase: “There are even many municipalities where the fees have been completely abolished and we still have the money.

In addition, we have been supporting all Optiprax or conurbation allowances for the staff for years - but an increase in the fees is really not necessary, ”pleaded Wilhelm.

However, there was no reply from the other groups and so the committee voted.

CSU, Greens and UWV confirmed the fee increases from January 2022.
