At least two people died and several were injured after a chemical leak that occurred Tuesday night at a plant in La Porte, Texas, authorities said.
Five people were treated for injuries at the scene, two were taken to the hospital with burns and another 31 were evaluated, Harris County Fire Marshal Laurie Christensen said at a news conference Tuesday night.
The incident occurred around 7:35 pm when an acetic acid leak was recorded at the LyondellBasell facility in the La Porte complex, company spokesman Chevalier Gray said in a statement.

Emergency teams from the city of La Porte and Channel Industries Mutual Aid immediately went to the scene.
After a review of the facilities, the company later assured that it had located all the employees.
"Our on-site incident response team responded quickly and the leak has stopped," LyondellBasell said, adding that air quality monitoring near the plant in an unincorporated part of Harris County shows "no level of concern "for residents.
"We know that the impact was limited to the plant," added Christensen.
