The British Minister of Transport announced that from August 2nd, travelers from countries on the so-called "yellow list" in England no longer have to go into quarantine if they are fully vaccinated.

There is currently a strict quarantine requirement in England for foreign travelers from countries on the yellow list in order to contain the spread of the coronavirus. Arrivals must isolate themselves for at least five days, even if they have already received a full corona vaccination. Despite the currently low corona numbers, Germany is also on the yellow list. Starting next Monday (August 2nd), entry should now be made easier.
According to the information, the exemption from the quarantine obligation applies to everyone who is fully vaccinated with a corona vaccine approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) or the US Agency (FDA).
So far, the only exemptions have been people who received the vaccine in the UK - to the chagrin of many Britons living abroad.
However, corona tests are still due before entering England and on the second day after entry.
Entry rules in England: France remains a special case - probably no changes for countries on the "red list"
"There are still separate rules for entries from France," said the Ministry of Transport. England has classified France as a special case because of the spread of the beta variant of the corona virus. In addition, the EU country is maintaining its strict quarantine regulations for the time being. For those arriving from countries on the “red list”, the highest risk category, there will probably not be any easing in England. You must continue to quarantine your hotel for ten days at your own expense.
The British media are puzzled about the motive for the easing of immigration. According to the

the British government wants to make it easier for family members and friends to see each other again. The
Guardian
wrote that the initiative to ease immigration came from Prime Minister Boris Johnson's ministers. The
Times,
on the other hand, reported that Johnson feared the UK could lose its bonus from the early vaccination campaign.
Since the corona policy in the United Kingdom is a country matter, the rules will initially only apply to England. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland could follow suit, however. In many EU countries, relaxed regulations for vaccinated travelers have been in place for months.
