A 19-year-old Tegernsee severely abused his family's dog in December.

So heavy that the animal died.

Because of the incident, the young man had to answer in court.

It is both a sad and irritating act that has now been tried before the Miesbach juvenile court.

A 19-year-old Tegernsee had to answer for a violation of the Animal Welfare Act.

At the beginning of December 2020, he is said to have abused his family's shepherd dog so massively that she died of the consequences a little later.

The defendant gave his version of the incident to the court.

He was home alone when he discovered that the bitch was doing her "business" in the apartment.

As a reprimand, he wanted to nudge her with his snout, but the animal resisted and snapped at him.

Then he struck, which is why the dog completely "freaked out".

Seeking protection, he kicked the dog away and crawled into a corner.

But the animal attacked him again and again, so he kicked her harder and harder.

Finally she let go of him, walked a few meters and collapsed.

Kicks against shepherd: 19-year-old corrects his version

Judge Klaus-Jürgen Schmid held his testimony with the police before the accused.

There he had stated that the bitch had growled at him and grabbed him and he kicked her.

The four-legged friend then fell down the stairs as a result of the kick.

He had later corrected this version so as not to make his sister's statement seem implausible.

She had stated that her brother had shut the dog's snout and hit him.

The fight felt like it lasted about ten minutes, said the 19-year-old when asked by the prosecutor.

He himself had a few scratches on his hands and legs.

Later he called his mother and told her that the dog was doing very badly. The 49-year-old came and the daughter, who had meanwhile arrived, told her that her brother had kicked the dog, the woman reported in court. The son initially told a different story to protect her: the bitch ran into a car. Because the animal no longer showed any reaction, she immediately drove to the vet. He then administered a few injections, but two hours later announced by phone that the dog had died.

The mother did not confirm that the dog lady went into the apartment more often, as the son claims.

On the day in question, she found no traces of feces.

The animal was also not aggressive.

How is he with the consequences of his behavior, Schmid asked the 19-year-old.

"I'm very sad because it was my dog too," he said.

The public prosecutor rated the Tegernsee act as a “very brutal outbreak of violence” that gave cause for concern.

He took the fact that the dog had not let go any more as a protective claim;

the defendant simply wanted to let off steam.

It is worrying that the act was directed in a certain way against a kind of family member.

Judge Schmid finally imposed a fine of 300 euros and ordered the 19-year-old to continue therapy that had started because of the incident for at least six months.
