The Hong Kong Audiovisual Union filed a lawsuit in the High Court yesterday (27th) to sue Metro Radio for infringement and claim compensation through civil means.
The Hong Kong Audiovisual Union requested the court to issue an injunction to prohibit the radio from broadcasting tracks of the copyright held by members of the alliance without the consent of the alliance.
The plaintiff is Hong Kong Audiovisual Union Co., Ltd., and the defendant is Metro Broadcasting Co., Ltd.
The plaintiff filed a petition to request the court to issue an order, and the defendant infringed the copyright of the plaintiff and demanded compensation from the defendant.
The plaintiff also requested the court to issue an injunction to prohibit the defendant from playing the copyrighted tracks held by the plaintiff members without the plaintiff’s consent or unauthorized rights.
The members of the plaintiff include the three major record companies Universal Music, Sony Music and Warner Music.
According to earlier reports, the contract between the plaintiff and the defendant ends at the end of 2020.
