In Loire-Atlantique, the worrying doubling of homicide attempts

Four young people in their twenties suspected of "murder in an organized gang and attempted murder in an organized gang, criminal conspiracy, and drug trafficking" have been patient since July 2 in pre-trial detention, after being arrested by the Nantes PJ, the BRI and the Raid.

Six months ago, the young Abdelghani Sidali, barely 15 years old and baby-faced, died under buckshot in the head, in Dervallières, in the north-west of Nantes.

At stake, the control of a very lucrative point of deal "destabilized" after a police strike.

In a department of Loire-Atlantique, where willful attacks on physical integrity have been increasing for ten years (beyond 5% per year), homicide attempts have exploded this year, according to figures obtained by

54 homicides and attempts recorded from January 2021 to June 2021, over six rolling months, for 6 deaths.

There were 25 in mid-2020.
