Finding the right juicer: which criteria play a role
There are three different types of electric juicers:
centrifugal juicer
,
juice extractors
(also Slow Juicer) and
steam juicer
. In the centrifuge juicer, the fruits and vegetables are chopped with knives while the container rotates at high speed. The resulting centrifugal force ensures that the fruit and vegetables are thrown against a sieve and the juice is squeezed out. The slow juicer, on the other hand, presses the fruit and vegetables out with a roller. This type of juicing enables a higher and gentler juice yield. In addition, a slow speed ensures that less oxygen gets into the drink and thus more nutrients are retained. Those who work with the steam juicer have to plan more time and need a stove or a power source. It is also traditionally used to make jam or jelly. The juices usually have a longer shelf life.In this article, however, we will focus on centrifugal juicers and juicers.
The watts are very different for the different product types: while
centrifugal
juicers
often have over 1,000 watts
, a
slow juicer with 150 to 500 watts is
sufficient
. The number of revolutions also differs: centrifuge juicers reach up to 15,000 revolutions per minute, while the juicers take it
easy
at
around 80 to 100 revolutions
. Ultimately, however, the choice of juicer depends on which fruit or vegetable you want to chop up. If it is primarily about soft ingredients, lower wattages are also sufficient. However, weaker devices are not as suitable for long-term use as models with more power.
Depending on how much juice you want to squeeze with a one-time effort, you should also take a look at the size of the juice container.
These can range from
approximately 0.7 to 1.3 liters
.
If you are not a fan of a lot of snipping, it would also be advantageous to get a device with a larger filling opening.

How to clean your juicer
