Tutzing - The dialysis center in Tutzing on the grounds of the Benedictus Hospital closes at the end of the year.

This is confirmed by the operator of the center, the non-profit association Kuratorium für Dialysis und Renentransplantation (KfH) based in Neu-Isenburg, on request.

According to the KfH, 25 patients are affected.

Eight employees are employed in Tutzing.

You will probably find accommodation in other KfH centers.

The Tutzinger Dialysis Center has existed since 1983. It is located on the grounds of the Tutzinger Benedictus Hospital and cares for dialysis patients on Lake Starnberg, including rehabilitation patients from Feldafing and Höhenried as well as vacationers.

The KfH kidney center is closing for economic reasons, as a press release shows.

After careful analysis and weighing up alternatives, the decision had to be made to close the site, explains Stefan Fuchs, the commercial director of the KfH Kidney Center in Tutzing.

"The small catchment area and the density of nephrological service providers have had a negative effect on our patient numbers for years."

Even the move that took place in March of this year unfortunately did not open up any positive prospects in this regard. In spring, the kidney center moved into a building with 20 dialysis stations. The Benedictus Hospital built the new building because the clinic needed the previous KfH site for its own renovation and new building plans. For this, the kidney center had given its leasehold to the Benedictus hospital.

Efforts have been made to maintain the location, emphasized Fuchs.

The decision was not easy after almost 40 years on site and was only made under the prerequisite that nephrological care for patients with kidney disease in the region was ensured even without the KfH kidney center in Tutzing, he emphasized.

The currently 25 patients could continue to be treated in Tutzing until the end of the year and the consultation hours will continue to exist.

There is a sufficiently long period of time to support the patient when they wish to move to another nephrological facility.
