Accident driver flees from the police and loses control

In the night around 2:30 a.m., a driver broke through the railing at this point and fell a few meters into the Isar with his car.

According to the police, the man was seriously injured.

The accident was preceded by an escape from the officers.

The police had been alerted at 1.15 a.m. that night because of a break-in at a hardware store in Moraltpark.

Witnesses had told the emergency call center that the acoustic alarm had just been triggered and two people were walking away from the entrance to the garden department across the fairground.

Patrol becomes aware of Königsdorfer because he drove through a red light

An immediately initiated manhunt in the urban area was unsuccessful.

However, in the course of the manhunt, there was a lot of police in the city area.

At around 2.30 a.m. at the intersection of Bahnhofstrasse / Osterleite, one of the stripes noticed a Fiat Punto ignoring the red light there.

"The officials therefore decided to check the car that was driving the Osterleite in the direction of Lenggrieser Strasse," said the police press report.

When the 19-year-old noticed the blue light, he accelerated

When the driver noticed the police vehicle behind him with a blue light, the 19-year-old from Königsdorfer accelerated and tried to evade the control.

Here he came on the opposite lane and touched a curb.

One of the tires burst.

At Kapellengasteig, the 19-year-old finally wanted to turn left onto the Isar bridge, but lost control of his vehicle, broke through the bridge railing and fell into the Isar.

Police rescue the Königsdorf from the Isar

The young man was able to free himself from the vehicle and hold on to a stone in the Isar.

"The officers immediately went into the Isar, secured with a rope, at considerable risk to themselves, to save the man from being aborted and brought him to the nearby bank," the officers report.

The Könisgdorfer was admitted to the Murnau Accident Clinic with a suspected spinal injury.

An alcohol test carried out gave the young man a value of around 1.1 per mille.

An economic total loss of 2000 euros was incurred on the vehicle.

The police officers were slightly injured.

Both were also very soaked and hypothermic.

The driver involved in the accident is now awaiting criminal proceedings because of a risk to traffic, his driver's license was secured on site

The fire brigade, water rescue service and towing company recover the car

The Tölz fire brigade, the head of the water rescue team from the district water watch, the rapid action group (Bad Tölz) of the water watch with five emergency services and the rapid action group of the DLRG Geretsried were also alerted.

However, since the man had already been freed from the car, the latter were able to turn around on the approach.

The water rescue team, supported by colleagues from the fire brigade, took over the rescue of the car and parts of the bridge railing.

Heavy equipment was necessary for this. A towing company came with a crane to lift the car out of the river.

At around 4.30 a.m. the work for the volunteer rescuers from the water rescue service and the fire brigade was over.
