Pfizer and Sputnik, the symbols of malpractice K with vaccines

After a year of back and forth, they celebrate the agreement with the American laboratory. The Russian bet, more ideology than health, creaks in the absence of second doses. The third wave hits the door but there are elections and all restrictions are set aside.

Two episodes that happened in the last six days reveal

the malpractice

in the health management of the Alberto Fernández government. Last Thursday a letter from the presidential adviser, Cecilia Nicolini, who claimed Moscow was known

lack of sending second dose of Sputnik V

. In Argentina there are almost 7 million people waiting for her. This Tuesday, Health Minister Carla Vizzotti announced that the agreement was signed -

after twelve months of rare lobbying -

with the US laboratory Pfizer.

There will be 20 million doses that would arrive in the last months of the year. That Nicolini claim revealed two things. The

that the vaccination campaign is going through, marked by the slowness and lack of second doses. Reinsurance, it is stated in the world, to face the new wave represented by the Delta variant of COVID. Also the

failed bet by Moscow

to hide the first failure with AstraZeneca (makes the Oxford vaccine) and the ideological prejudice of agreeing with the traditional US pharmaceutical industry.

The rapprochement with Vladimir Putin was an initiative of Cristina Fernández and Axel Kicillof. To which the President added as soon as he detected that the supply of vaccines was at serious risk of shipwreck. The political seduction that

this alleged geopolitical strategy exercised on Kirchnerism prevented the Government from properly calibrating things.

Russia is a military and energy power. With notable progress in the field of scientific research. Those tools prompted Putin to launch into international competition with the US, Europe and China for the manufacture and sale of vaccines.

Sputnik V happened to be designed with two different platforms. Complementary. Russia was dedicated to the millionaire manufacture of first doses to expand in the world (in fact it is in the third place of the ranking, after Pfizer and Oxford) but it

fulfilled its productive capacity

. It lacked the structure to manufacture the second dose and had a setback that was not expected: the collapse of India by the pandemic. There Moscow planned to complete the development of the SputniK V.

When the government noticed such difficulty, it went in search of China.

It closed a deal for Sinopharm that, even with the bumps typical of an exceptional situation, managed to comply with the shipments in a timely manner.

Beijing has no problems in its productive capacity.

For that reason it is the power that it is.

In another lift, the greater or lesser effectiveness of the doses distributed on the planet can be debated.

Cecilia Nicolini with Carla Vizzotti in Moscow, on the trip that defined her commitment to the Russian vaccine.

Twelve months after the first announcement about Pfizer (for whose investigation Argentina contributed 6 thousand volunteers) Vizzotti concluded the agreement.

Without, as the head of PRO Patricia Bullrich tweeted sarcastically,

the delivery of the glaciers was necessary.

It is clear that the delay, irresponsible in the midst of the pandemic, was due to the internal political push of the Government and its coalition, the Frente de Todos.

Finally, the Pfizer vaccine stopped being the delivery of national sovereignty, after dark turns and inflamed speeches.

With an 8-month delay, we Argentines will have a vaccine that would have prevented thousands of deaths.

Now we will receive it to save our lives.

The obstacles that persisted with the US laboratories were used by the opposition to martyr the government.

Pfizer's impediment was symbolic for a reason: it is the first vaccine enabled to immunize minors who suffer from comorbidities.

Kirchnerism knew how to respond to this harassment with a story.

It never had corroboration in any plane.

Former minister Ginés Gonzalez Garcia was the first to claim that Pfizer had

Then the President himself confessed, heartbroken, that signing the agreement would have meant an

“act of violence” for him

It sounded like the "sarasa" made famous, in an oversight, by the Minister of Economy, Martín Guzmán.

The Frente de Todos blocked several times in Congress the modification of the Vaccine Law that prevented progress in deals with US laboratories. Just so as not to please the opposition that promoted those changes,

Alberto signed a DNU on July 2 that regulated the possibility of accessing Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson.

The water was reaching the neck.

The move was accepted reluctantly by the K. That DNU was validated by the Senate, with the absence of the vice president.

And criticism of the official Mariano Recalde.

It was even possible to listen to an unforgettable presentation by Máximo Kirchner in Diputados.

Offended by the alleged lack of national "self-esteem" that would need the permission of international science to be encouraged to use vaccines.

He was referring to Sputnik V. The deputy seems to be easily mixed up with some of his readings.

"We are seeing"

Argentina received 3.5 million doses of Moderna that it would use to vaccinate those under 18 years of age with comorbidities.

It would be 900 thousand people.

With the rest, he oscillates between increasing the number of first doses or experimenting as a complement to Sputnik V.

The repeated “we are seeing”.

The vaccination campaign still does not show adequate acceleration.

Faced with the possibility of a third wave, there is - according to official data - a gap of 10 million between the vaccines received and those inoculated.

Argentina seems to walk with the changed times.

The second wave wanes, even with high standards.

The deaths per day bring the great tragedy to the 110 thousand victims.

The third wave would be falling.

But suddenly almost all the restrictions seem to cease.

Even the battle

(political, cultural and legal)

between the City and Buenos Aires for Education

Kicillof, the governor of the Province, announced, like Horacio Rodríguez in the City, that after the winter holidays, face-to-face classes are back at all levels.

In the Buenos Aires case, in the 135 districts.

There are no epidemiological statistics, right now, that you can resist.

Has something suddenly changed and nobody has noticed?

 Only one thing.

Last weekend was the closing of lists for the September STEP.

The electoral campaign is boiling.

It shows in the words of the political class.

Is there a need for another explanation?

After a year of twists and turns, the Government announced an agreement with Pfizer for 20 million doses
