Excellent start of the Olympics for Ruggero Tita and Caterina Marianna Banti who, in the 'Nacra 17' class, confirm that they deserve a place among the favorites of the Games with three capital tests in beautiful and demanding weather conditions for the mixed foiling catamaran.

The blue couple wins by dominating the debut round, which is followed by a third place in the second round, with a remarkable comeback and nearly overtaking the second on the line, finally a new success in the third heat.

So Ruggero and Caterina are first in the standings, with 4 points ahead of the Germans Paul Kohloff and Alica Stuhlemmer, and the Australians Jason Waterhouse and Lisa Darmanin (silver medal in Rio 2016).

In the 470 Women, Elena Berta and Bianca Caruso closed the first day of their Olympics in sixth place overall, as a result of the two placings in today's heats: fifth and eleventh. The strong wind and the 'formed' sea made the regattas rather difficult, and the results of the two blue came in a comeback, a sign of good speed and character. In these conditions, the Polish Agnieszka Skrzypulec and Jolanra Ogar (1-1) seem to have an extra gear in the lead, second the French Camille Lecointre and Aloise Retornaz (3-2), third the English Hannah Mills and EWilidh McIntyre (4 -3). In the coming days, a drop in the wind is expected and the cards will mix again for everyone.

"The weather calls we had for today have been confirmed, a scenario among those typical of Enoshima - comments the Italvela coach, Michele Marchesini -, with a very particular wave that when the wind from the south exceeds 13 knots due to seabed rises a lot and becomes challenging. For the Nacra, extraordinary and very spectacular conditions, Tita-Banti did the Tita-Banti ".
