"We are happy and proud that the fifth generation took over the management in April." Christian Wiedemann (37) is now at the head of the perfumery chain, which now has 23 branches in southern Upper Bavaria and a total of 175 employees.

In retail in particular, it is something special when a business is handed over from one generation to the next, emphasized Gößl.

The fact that a company has been family-run for 165 years is “outstanding and absolutely rare in retail”.

Mehner emphasized: "Asserting its position as a grown family business in the city is one thing - but building a structure through half of Upper Bavaria and taking on all the big names in the industry is something special."

Niedermaier emphasized that Peter Wiedemann had always seen himself as a fighter for stationary retail and thus made an important contribution to the “social life that takes place in the city center”.

Peter Wiedemann confirmed that online trading is only a small part of the company's business.

The perfumery was founded as a soap factory

The Wiedemann company was founded in 1856 as a soap factory and once marketed its own products under the name "Isarperle".

According to Peter Wiedemann, the fact that the company has survived world wars and economic crises for more than one and a half centuries has recently given customers, business partners and employees the security of the Corona crisis: "We will survive that too."
