The holiday start: Lufthansa warns of long waiting times - "Be there at least two hours earlier"

Munich - Lufthansa expects around 64,000 passengers at Munich Airport at the start of the summer holidays on the weekend.

To simplify check-in, passengers could also reserve their seats online.

The corresponding tool was activated 23 hours to two hours before departure, it said.

For families with small children, the family check-in in Terminal 2 is available from 4.15 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. on the weekends.

Lufthansa: Spain and Greece are particularly popular

At the same time, the spokeswoman countered speculation that cancellations should have occurred due to the increasing number of infections and the upgrading of Spain to a high-risk country.

The flight from Munich to Mallorca planned for Saturday is "fully booked".

At the start of the holidays on July 31, the airline plans to use an A-350 on the popular Balearic island due to the high demand.

The latest Airbus model is usually used on long haul routes.

In addition to Spain, Greece is particularly popular with holidaymakers at Munich Airport this year.

In view of this, Lufthansa has significantly expanded its offer at the start of the summer flight schedule.

The airline now flies to a total of twelve Greek destinations, including Mykonos, Kos, Thessaloniki, Zakynthos, Preveza and Kavala for the first time.
