The participants’ interventions in a workshop organized today by the Ministry of Education in cooperation with the European Institute for Cooperation and Development and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) focused on the work plan of the TVET project, its stages, policies and objectives, and a review of successful experiences in this sector.

The participants in the workshop entitled (A future centered on creativity) at Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus discussed steps to build a public policy system centered on an appropriate vocational educational system, restructuring and organizing this sector, leading to the formation of a single reference umbrella.

The participants stressed the need to provide education and vocational training in order to better respond to the needs of the labor market, strengthen the system to facilitate the transition from school to work and from work to work, in addition to comprehensive vocational education for expatriates, migrants and refugees, in particular youth and females, and developing an evidence-based policy approach through Establish a national labor market information system and harmonize vocational education by sharing this information and using labor market guides.

The Minister of Education in the caretaker government, Dr. Darem Tabbaa, indicated that the workshop aims to study the needs of vocational education, strategic planning for it, and setting policies aimed at building a successful and stable institution that can rebuild Syria.

Minister Tabbaa pointed out that the study of the project to develop vocational and technical education and training has reached the third stage, indicating that the project provides solutions to all the problems that society suffers from and contributes to supporting the Syrian economy and returning it to what it was before by providing trained professional capabilities capable of leading industrial and technical work in a way. good.

For his part, the director of the Vocational Education Development Project at the European Institute Organization, Maher Al-Raz, explained that the project consists of 5 phases and its goal is to produce a long-term action plan for the development of vocational education in the next phase with the aim of graduating cadres capable of meeting the needs of the labor market, especially in the phase of reconstruction and recovery.

In turn, the coordinator of the TVIT project to develop vocational and technical education in Syria, Abeer Haddad, confirmed that the project brought together the private sector with the government sector in addition to the local community to come up with visions and policies for the development of vocational education, pointing to the importance of working on translating them in the executive plan into procedures, programs and activities to work. According to it, the concerned government agencies, such as the Ministry of Education and the rest of the authorities, to push the wheel of vocational education forward.

The workshop was attended by the assistant ministers of information, education, higher education, scientific research, social affairs and labor and a number of stakeholders.
