The Government has approved this Tuesday in the Council of Ministers the largest public employment offer in history with 30,445 places.

Of these, 23,491 will go to the General State Administration, to which 5,034 will be added from the Security Forces and Bodies;

and 1,920 for the Armed Forces.

This offer is 8.5% higher than in 2020, when a total of 28,055 places were offered.

Of the part destined for the General State Administration, 9,509 places will be for internal promotion, while the remaining 13,982 will be free entry. The latter will reinforce those baptized by the Executive as "Leverage Policies of the Recovery Plan" and will be divided as follows: almost a fifth of the 13,982 positions (19.9%) will go to the direction and management of Public Policies; 11.8% to Digital Transformation; 10.4% to the modernization of the tax system; 8.4% to the modernization of justice; and 5.6% to health, among others.

The Minister of Finance and Public Function, María Jesús Montero, has especially highlighted the offer for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (known as STEM activities), with a total of 2,924 places, which represents an increase of 37% compared to the previous exercise. Of these, 1,330 will go to professions related to ICT (Information and Communication Technologies); 785 for science; 450 for engineering; 247 to statistics; and 112 for architecture.

Despite being the largest offer in history, the general secretary of Workers' Commissions, Unai Sordo, called it "insufficient" this Tuesday in an interview with

La Sexta

, since, he denounces, since 2011 40,000 jobs have been destroyed in the General State Administration.

"Although this may seem like a lot, it is an insufficient offer," said the union leader.

In the same vein as Sordo, the CSIF (Central Sindical Independiente y de Servants) union had demonstrated last Monday, calling the announcement insufficient.

"We demand a multi-year offer and an end to the replacement rate (...) The General State Administration is very bad and, although it is a very large offer, much has been lost in recent years," they complained.

Montero explained that this offer has governed a replacement rate of 115% for the Security Forces and Corps, as well as 110% in the case of priority sectors such as health and education. The objective, the minister pointed out, is to reinforce these areas that had "suffered a significant decline during the governments of the right."
