The district of Erding honors the best middle school students.

387 qualifications were taken this year, and 195 students have passed the secondary school leaving certificate.

Oberding

- “Most of you have a one before the decimal point.

Even I wasn't always that good, ”admitted Marion Bauer, director of the education authority, at the school ceremony in Oberding yesterday.

There, the 26 best students with a qualifying secondary school diploma, with a secondary school diploma from a secondary school, as well as the graduates of the practical classes received their certificates and a small present.

Middle school - that used to be the secondary school and probably didn't have the best reputation. Today, however, there are many ways to get a secondary school leaving certificate. On the one hand, it is the classic route via the M-Zug, which extends the school career by one year. But there is also the so-called preparatory class. With a qualification result of up to 2.5, the pupils can catch up on their secondary school leaving certificate in two years. “This is particularly interesting for students with a migration background, or also for students who discovered their fun in learning late,” explained the director of the education department, Bauer, to our newspaper.

In the preparatory class, the students would simply have more time to prepare for the intermediate degree. “They repeat about half a year and cover the material of the 10th class in one and a half years,” says Bauer. The offer is available in the schools in Wartenberg and Finsing and is very much in demand. And then there are the practical classes, in which there are theory-relieved lessons and which lead to the secondary school diploma.

Overall, middle schools are a very important part of the education system. In his greeting, Martin Bayerstorfer reported that around 30 percent of fourth graders in the district would switch to secondary schools. “This makes us a district with a slightly higher share.” Many communities from neighboring districts would also get involved in Erdings middle school associations. Bayerstorfer spoke of three pillars of middle school: "Strong in general education, strong in professional orientation and strong in personal development."

In the district, 454 students took the qualification test this year, 90 of them were external, i.e. students who are not at a middle school. 387 of them passed the exam. In contrast, 195 students successfully passed the exams for the secondary school leaving certificate this year. Only eleven failed. Two district citizens can look forward to a 1.0 average: Cara Aigner from Taufkirchen, previously a student at the Montessori School, passed an external secondary degree. The Matea Celebic from Ottenhofen was in the preparatory class in Finsing. Another 1.0 student also graduated in Finsing: Tobias Grübl from Markt Schwaben.

And what are the challenges for students with 1.0?

"Corona has made things more difficult, that was completely different than usual," Cara Aigner reported after the event in an interview with our newspaper.

She found it difficult, especially in math.

But in the end everything went well.

Especially when you consider: As a Montessori student, she previously had lessons without grades.

The average of 1.0 is all the more impressive.

Aigner is now drawn to the state capital: she now wants to do her technical diploma at the Montessori technical college in Munich.
