The redesign of Landsberger Strasse in Stegen has long been an issue in Inning. Now a planner presented considerations - which could lead to a pedestrian zone.

The redesign of Landsberger Strasse in Stegen has long been an issue in Inning.

Now a planner presented considerations - which could lead to a pedestrian zone.

Stegen - A turning loop at the level of the car park on Dampfersteg, a roundabout a good 300 meters further east at the Bräuhausweg confluence - and in between, in front of the restaurant, there is enough space for pedestrians and cyclists on Landsberger Straße in Stegen.

Planner Hans Lais presented this option to local councils on Tuesday evening in innings in order to calm down and redesign the hopelessly overcrowded street, especially when the weather is nice.

Whether the area will then become a pedestrian zone, whether and when and how residents or other motorists may drive in, the engineer wants to leave this decision to the local councils.

Pedestrian zone in Stegen?

Inning municipal council does not come to a decision

They could not come to a decision on Tuesday after more than an hour of consultation.

At the request of Thomas Bauer (CSU), the planning was referred to the parliamentary groups.

Mayor Walter Bleimaier wants to deal with the topic again after the summer vacation, possibly even in a special session.

Considerations for calming down the area go back years.

At a closed meeting in October 2018, the municipal council agreed on several goals, including decelerating traffic, equal rights for all road users, the elimination of parking spaces in public areas in the core area of footbridges and additional access options to the alternative parking lot.

Expansion of the parking lot to the east remains in play

Lais suggested a loop in front of the parking lot. The 921 bus from Inning should also approach this - in such a way that passengers can get off barrier-free on the lake side, the “right side”, as Lais said. This concept would be discussed with the roundabout manager Susanne Münster, promised Bleimaier on a corresponding tip from Barbara Wanzke (Greens). Lais wants to asphalt or pave the parking lot itself and thus organize it.

In this context, Bleimaier was confident about the expansion of the parking lot to the east in the direction of tennis courts, which had been planned for years.

Although there is no contractual relationship with the property owners there, there are “declarations of intent,” he said.

Bleimaier will discuss next time to what extent a direct connection for pedestrians and / or drivers to the alternative parking lot on the state road is possible.

Conflict-laden planning - Mayor: "Will have to fight a lot"

Planner Lais imagines a flush area of driveway and sidewalks in front of the catering establishments.

Public parking spaces are no longer provided there (with the exception of disabled parking spaces).

Parking would then only be possible again behind the roundabout in the Bräuhausweg area.

Whether it is possible to drive into Landsberger Straße from there, whether, for example, retractable bollards should be installed - these are also questions that are still open.

Bleimaier is already preparing for controversial discussions.

The planning was "conflicting," he said.

"We'll have to fight a lot there."

Rescheduling in Stegen: worries about drainage in heavy rain

In the meeting on Tuesday there was not yet a major discussion of the content.

The CSU councilors Bauer, Anna Herrmann and Günther Kammerloher were concerned about drainage in the event of heavy rain.

Rainer Wörl (BIZ) brought the roundabout in front of the old brewery to be relocated, which Lais found less good.

"The place below seems relatively suitable to me," he replied.

Possible construction phases, costs and the like have not yet been discussed.

It remains a topic that should continue to occupy the Stegener.
