Afghan forces kill 23 Taliban militants in the north of the country

Afghan forces announced the elimination of 23 Taliban militants in Faryab province, northern Afghanistan.

"Afghan forces backed by the air force carried out military operations targeting hideouts of Taliban militants in Pashtunkot and Almar districts of the province, killing 23 militants and wounding three others," the Chinese Xinhua news agency quoted Mohammad Hanif Rezaei, a spokesman for the Afghan army in the northern region, as saying in a statement today. He also referred to the confiscation of large quantities of weapons and ammunition.

Yesterday, the Afghan army announced the elimination of nine Taliban militants in Badakhshan province, in the north of the country.
