Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri expressed his thanks to the Syrian leadership for providing assistance in putting out the fires currently raging in the woods of a number of Lebanese regions.
Berri thanked the Syrian leadership "for its haste in providing assistance and support to put out the fires in the Lebanese Bekaa."
Berri praised the efforts made by the Lebanese army, other security forces, civil defense, Lebanese Red Cross teams, volunteer teams in scout and environmental associations and clubs, and municipal councils to control fires.
For his part, a member of the “Development and Liberation” bloc, MP Ghazi Zuaiter, expressed his thanks to the leadership and people of Syria for helping to put out the fires in Lebanon.
Zuaiter indicated in a statement today from the town of Al-Bustan in Jurd Hermel that “the area of Jurd Hermel is afflicted,” noting that “the priority now is to extinguish the fires.”
Earlier today, the Lebanese National News Agency indicated that a Syrian helicopter participated in the process of extinguishing the fire at the joint Lebanese-Syrian border in Akrom and Akum, and that the Syrian Civil Defense intervened with its mechanisms in this area to put out the fire.
