The multi-day blockade of the Suez Canal by the Ever Given caused billions in damages worldwide.

Now the container giant has finally arrived at the port of destination.

Rotterdam - More than four months after the blockade of the Suez Canal, the giant container ship Ever Given entered the port of Rotterdam on Thursday (July 29).

“A special moment,” said the head of the container port, Hans Nagtegaal, of the AFP news agency.

"We can finally start unloading."

The container ship will stay in Rotterdam until Monday, said Nagtegaal.

Then she goes to Felixstowe in Great Britain, then to the dry dock in Dunkirk, France.

It is eagerly awaited whether the rumors and speculations about a huge load of Playstation 5 consoles on board will come true.

So far, the current game console is sold out almost everywhere, fans sometimes pay enormous surcharges to secure a Playstation 5 on the secondary markets.

With the cargo of the Ever Given being unloaded in the port of Rotterdam, the situation could calm down significantly.

Ever Given: Billions in losses from canal blockade

On March 23, the huge ship got caught in a sandstorm and ran aground.

The 400-meter-long container ship was then stuck across the waterway, and more than 400 other ships were stowed in both directions.

Six days later, the Ever Given was towed free.

The damage to the global economy from the canal closure was estimated to be more than $ 9 billion a day.

At the beginning of July an agreement was reached with the Japanese ship owner Shoei Kisen Kaisha, on July 7th the ship was able to lift anchor.

Details of the settlement agreement were not disclosed.

Egypt had recently asked for $ 550 million (464 million euros).
