Tuesday evening, like every week, the local authorities held a conference to take stock of the monitoring of the Covid-19 epidemic on the island of Guadeloupe.
But this time, it is the white voice and sometimes marked with anger that Valérie Denux, the general director of the regional health agency (ARS) and Alexandre Rochatte, the prefect of Guadeloupe announced a situation
"extremely worrying"
, like several overseas territories.
Government spokesman Gabriel Attal announced on Wednesday the island's passage into a state of health emergency, as in Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy.
In Martinique, new confinement was imposed from Friday evening for a period of at least three weeks.
In Reunion, confinement will be partial during the day and reinforced by a strict curfew from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m., starting this weekend, for a period of two weeks.
