According to a draft by the Federal Ministry of Health, the tightening of the test requirement for all types of return travelers has already been determined.
Berlin - The general compulsory test when entering Germany is to come into force on August 1st.
At least that's what a draft ordinance from the Ministry of Health provides, which is available to the German Press Agency.
The tightening of the previous entry rules should therefore create time before the coronavirus and "delay the next wave of high numbers of infections expected according to current forecasts as far back as possible."
Test obligation: Applies to all holiday returnees and all means of transport
When the draft is passed, all persons aged six and over must be able to prove a negative test, a complete vaccination or their convalescence status in order to be able to enter Germany.
The previously applicable test requirement for air travelers would be extended to all modes of transport.
When entering from a dangerous virus variant area, negative test evidence should be mandatory - regardless of vaccination or convalescence status.
While flight passengers have to present their evidence before take-off, train passengers should also be able to do so during the journey.
New regulation: Control by authorities
Compliance with the rules is checked by random checks by the authorities. As a result of the draft, changes in the classification of risk areas are also planned. The previous classification into a "simple" risk area is to be ended, the categories "high risk areas" and "virus variant areas" are to be retained.
According to information from the dpa, the draft as of Wednesday evening (July 28th, 2021) should already be coordinated with other departments in advance.
The federal government had so far left the start date of the new regulation open with reference to internal coordination.
The draft was preceded by numerous demands by top politicians to tighten the test obligation, including Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) and the Green Chancellor candidate Annalena Baerbock.
