The Jägerhaus in Fraunberg recently became part of the community.

A feasibility study is now available.

Accordingly, the property could offer good space for clubs and events, but apartments would also be conceivable.

Fraunberg - Once it was used as a workplace for the local bathers, later a hunter moved in here. We are talking about the hunter's property on Erlenweg between the Fraunberg community center and Strogen. The municipality recently acquired the property from the 16th century and now wants to use it. In order to find out what structural possibilities the building offers, an architect was commissioned to carry out a feasibility study. He now presented his findings to the local council.

“This house, whose floor plan from 1911 and exterior views are available to us, is not a monument, but it definitely defines the location,” said Udo Rieger from the Isen architecture firm of the same name, classifying the Jägerhaus.

The specialist planner, who, together with his team, has specialized in building in existing buildings, first described the structural situation to the councilors.

It is a barn with a stable and an attached living area, "completely solidly built".

A room for club activities could be set up on the ground floor.

According to Rieger, the approximately 60 square meter stable with its Prussian cap vault might be suitable as a studio for local artists.

Finally, there is still a need for sanitary facilities.

Access to the house must of course be barrier-free.

Finally, in the area of the threshing floor, there would be space for a warehouse and a workshop.

The upper floor would be suitable either for a spacious three-room apartment or for two smaller residential units.

However, these rooms could also be used by the public, for example to present exhibitions.

In any case, the question of heating needs to be clarified for every form of use.

In addition, the electricity supply with a small power plant attached outside should be considered, "there would be no more space for this on the ground floor".

The team of architects can imagine the façade of the property facing the Strogen with a slat blind, like in the community center.

All windows should show bars in order to create a historical reference, a large wooden door is planned as the entrance.

Finally, Rieger used photos to show the current condition of the building and certified that the house was in good overall condition.

Now the creativity in the circle of the municipal councils was called for “to take a first step, after all, no major hurdles are to be expected in terms of monument preservation”, as Mayor Hans Wiesmaier explained. While Kai von Fraunberg (WG Fraunberg) asked about the risk of flooding at the nearby Strogen, Maria Pfeil (WG Reichenkirchen) expressed concerns about the idea of mixing apartments on the upper floor and club rooms at ground level - “that could cause noise,” she feared . Karlheinz Reingruber (Greens) would like to "rather create apartments, we already have enough public spaces". Bartholomäus Algasinger (WG Maria Thalheim), however, could imagine an offer for senior citizens, possibly with day care.

These first ideas, however the hunter's property will be used by the community, will now be followed by further discussions, also with the community of participants on site.

"In any case, we want to use this historic building sensibly, so we are not developing here on the basis of chance," said the mayor.

Architect Rieger also had another suggestion: "This property could also be developed in stages, suggestions for it can grow." At this first presentation, however, there was no discussion of the possible costs of an extension, further construction details are necessary to estimate them.
