According to the police, the man is a 49-year-old vacationer from North Rhine-Westphalia.
He set out on a mountain tour on the Kahlersberg around noon on Wednesday.
When he did not return from this, the landlord reported him missing on Thursday morning.

The police and the mountain rescue service * Berchtesgaden then initiated extensive search measures.
After a short time, the man's vehicle was found in the Hinterbrand parking lot.
Since the Federal Police held a helicopter exercise nearby, it was used to fly over the area in question.
"Around 11:40 a.m., a lifeless person was found west of the Mauslochsteig on Kahlersberg," the police said in a statement.
Both mountain guides from the federal police and emergency services from the Berchtesgaden mountain rescue service were then dropped off in the steep, fall-prone area.
However, "due to the severity of the injuries" they could only determine the death of the 49-year-old.
His body was flown into the valley around 4 p.m.
