The firefighting teams in Homs governorate, backed by elements of the Syrian Arab Army, continue their efforts to put out the fire that spread yesterday evening from the Lebanese territories towards the outskirts of Akum village in the Al-Qusayr area in the southwestern Homs countryside.
Brigadier General Ghiath Aqel, Director of Civil Defense in Homs, told SANA reporter that as a result of the great efforts of the firefighting teams and the Syrian Arab Army throughout the day, we were able to control most of the fire spots that extended from the Lebanese side, and we are still dealing with some spots that sometimes move.
Aqel pointed out that the wind speed was the main reason for the spread of the fire, in addition to the high temperatures and rugged terrain, which made it difficult in some areas for firefighting vehicles to reach, and we dealt with the spots manually until we were able to put them out.
The Directorate of Health in Homs Governorate sent two ambulances and a mobile clinic to the village of Akum in the Qusair region to intervene in the event of any emergency or injury caused by the fire.
