- “Our gymnastics, sports and shooting clubs have always been a central part of our society,” says Joachim Herrmann's address. The Bavarian Interior and Sports Minister has come to the historic premises of Schleissheim Palace to present a total of 18 clubs from Upper Bavaria and Swabia with the sports badge. The award took place in the presence of Jörg Ammon, the President of the Bavarian State Sports Association, as well as the first State Shooting Champion of the Bavarian Sports Shooting Association, Christian Kühn.

Only organizations that have been involved in sport in Bavaria for at least a century are eligible for the award.

In his celebratory speech, Herrmann emphasized the great importance sports clubs have for strong cooperation in our society.

In particular, the versatile commitment of the members is an indispensable part of every association.

The sports badge should be a "visible sign" for all those "who work tirelessly for club life and thus also for our society."

Celebration had to take place in a scaled-down version

The shooting club in Kinsau, which celebrated its 100th anniversary last year, was also presented with the highest state award for gymnastics and sports clubs in Germany. “Our anniversary was actually the reason for the award,” explains Harald Mack, who accepted the sports badge for his club. The award was originally planned for summer 2020. Because of the pandemic, however, the event was postponed several times and finally held "in a slimmed-down version," as Mack reports. Nevertheless, it was a special day for the club.

The first Kinsau rifle master came to the castle in Oberschleißheim accompanied by two other members: the second board member, Johannes Haseitl, and the youth leader, Birgit Resch. Together they brought the award to their shooting club in Kinsau. "The certificate will be posted in our home soon," said Mack. A plexiglass dome will even be purchased for the silver plaque so that the piece can be clearly seen.
