An earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale struck off the American peninsula of Alaska last night, amid a tsunami warning.
Reuters reported that the US Geological Survey issued a tsunami warning, indicating that the quake occurred at a depth of 35 km, and that the tsunami warning system includes the US territory of Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands in the Pacific Ocean.
It is noteworthy that Alaska is one of the states of the Pacific Region in the United States, which includes four other states: Washington, Oregon, California and Hawaii.
