If you want to go on holiday to Malta at the moment, you should be fully vaccinated.
Otherwise, there are strict entry rules waiting for tourists.
Malta restricted its entry rules weeks ago.
Since then, it is no longer sufficient to have recovered from a Covid 19 disease * and to present the relevant evidence.
And even negative corona tests are no longer enough to travel to Malta without restrictions.
Instead, preference is given to vaccinated people who received the second vaccination dose at least two weeks ago.
Malta vacation: These are the current entry rules
If you want to enter Malta, you have to have the
EU Digital COVID vaccination certificate with you
, as the Maltese Ministry of Health announces on its website. It must contain proof of complete vaccination. Means: The last vaccination dose must be at least 14 days ago. Only vaccinations that have been carried out with a vaccine approved by the EMA are accepted. Contrary to
what was
initially announced, there are also
cross-vaccinations
permitted. Also important: According to the Foreign Office, the national vaccination passports of other countries are not accepted - this also applies to the yellow vaccination passport, which is common in Germany. Children between the ages of five and eleven who are traveling with a vaccinated adult require a negative PCR test that is no more than 72 hours old. Children under five do not need a test.
All travelers over the age of twelve who cannot prove a complete vaccination must also present a negative PCR test when entering Malta.
However, this no longer exempts from the
quarantine
obligation
: those affected have to go into self-isolation for 14 days.
The same applies to people who have recovered from Covid 19 disease, as
visitmalta.com
informs.
There is also no exception for convalescents who have received a single dose of vaccine that requires two doses.
Accommodation is provided by the health authorities for a fee of 100 euros per night.
Apart from that, all travelers must
fill out
the digital
Passenger Locator Form (PLF)
and present it on entry.

The current corona situation in Malta
The 7-day incidence is currently
218.1 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants
(as of July 29) even above the limit of 200. From then on, a country or area can be classified as a high-incidence area.
So far, however, Malta has been classified as a corona risk area.
Returning
travelers
must therefore
fill out
the
digital entry form
and submit a negative test or proof of full vaccination or recovery in order to bypass the ten-day quarantine.
