You have not been in office for a long time, but due to the pandemic, the honors could only now be carried out.

The former mayor of Tölz, Josef Janker, has now received the honorary title of "former mayor".

Bad Tölz

- In May 2020, Mayor Ingo Mehner (CSU), newly elected two months earlier, took over the official duties of his predecessor Josef Janker.

At the same time, a new city council made up of CSU, FWG, Greens and SPD members took office.

Due to the corona, it took until Tuesday before those who left the committee in the previous year could be honored.

Josef Janker (CSU), who has been First Mayor for twelve years, was awarded the honorary title of “Former Mayor”, and he also received the gold medal for twelve years as a city councilor, including six years as second mayor.

At the closed event in the Tölzer Kurhaus, Janker congratulated the current and honorable city councilors as well as his two predecessors, the former mayors Josef Niedermaier (FWG, now district administrator) and Dr.

Eckart Fadinger (CSU).

Janker's long-time deputy Andreas Wiedemann (FWG) was also awarded the citizen's medal in gold.

As Mehner said, he was a city councilor for 24 years, first third and then second mayor for 20 years.

The master baker is also known for his commitment to the Tölzer Triathlon and in earlier years as an extreme mountaineer.

In the meantime, his place of work is a little lower, every year he and his partner move to the Wackersberger Alm am Blomberg as a hobby restaurateur for two months.

Emotion among those honored

Ludwig Bauer is also a master baker, who has worked for the CSU for 30 years on the city council, including six years as third mayor. He has been known all over the country for decades as the Leonhardilader of the city (together with Anton Heufelder). In addition, he has been chairman of the Tölzer Hausknechte Association for half a century. He also received the citizen's medal in gold, followed by his party colleague Toni Heufelder, who was also a member of the committee for three decades. He is known professionally as the long-time managing director of the adult education center, as a former district councilor and CSU parliamentary spokesman in the city council.

For two other city councilors there was the citizen's medal in silver, namely Margot Kirste (FWG) and Ludwig Janker (CSU), brother of the long-time mayor.

Kirste was a member of the city council for 24 years and was always committed to the residents of Lettenholz and to the young.

Mehner named Kirste's involvement in the fire of a block of flats as an example, where she organized accommodation for the families affected on the night of the fire.

Ludwig Janker, who acted as chairman of the transport commission and implemented a lot of things "without making a big impression", achieved 18 years on the city council.

Mehner also praised Janker's humorous manner, which could hand out, but also take.

The honorees were deeply moved.

Josef Janker said that over the past few decades he has always tried to “do the best for our city”.

But that can only be done together with the city council and the administration.

"Otherwise you're a poor dog." (Karl Bock)
