Paramedics arrived and sent the old woman to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for rescue. After several hours of surgery, the left foot had to be removed to save her life. Sources at the scene stated that the 88-year-old mother-in-law Zhou was dragging a trolley across the road at the site and was hit by a garbage truck. She suffered serious head and feet injuries and was in a coma when she was sent to the hospital. Within hours of surgery, the mother-in-law had to remove her left foot and was sent to the intensive care department for treatment.

As for the 63-year-old driver Liu, who passed an alcohol breath test, he was arrested on suspicion of causing serious bodily harm to others due to dangerous driving.
