Urgent issues are on the agenda, of which the restrictions on non-vaccinated people in particular could cause trouble.

Berlin - The first Corona summit took place on March 12, 2020.

More than a year has now passed, and the rounds of talks continue, after all, the coronavirus does too.

Citizens look forward to the meetings between Chancellor Merkel and her prime ministers every time.

They hope for solutions, results, a way out of the crisis.

Often enough, however, the Corona rounds also result in disputes and discussions between politicians.

This is also to be expected at the upcoming video conference on August 10th, because there are a lot of explosive topics.

Corona summit: Possible dispute over restrictions for non-vaccinated people

On the one hand, there will be new benchmarks. In view of the advanced vaccination campaign in parts of the population, these are no longer as meaningful as before. The limit of 50 could possibly be upgraded. Furthermore, the freedoms and restrictions of vaccinated, convalescent and non-vaccinated people will be discussed. This issue could cause anger between the parties. While the Union is largely in favor of a number of restrictions on non-vaccinated people, the SPD, Greens and FDP have concerns.

But even within their own ranks, not everyone in the Union agrees.

For example, Chancellor candidate and NRW Prime Minister Armin Laschet asked for a period of reflection until autumn in the ZDF summer interview, while Chancellery Minister Helge Braun (CDU), Federal Minister of the Interior Horst Seehofer and CSU boss Markus Söder have already provided specific suggestions for restrictions for non-vaccinated people.

Accordingly, bans on restaurant, cinema and stadium visits as well as participation in larger community events and an end to the free quick tests are being considered.

Returning travelers: The draft regulation is already fixed

Another point of contention could be the discussion about opening schools.

Since education is a matter for the federal states, it will be difficult to build a consensus on the issues of opening schools and vaccinating pupils.

However, a solution seems to be in sight for the regulations relating to those returning home on holiday.

For example, there is a draft from the Federal Ministry of Health that is intended to tighten and regulate the testing requirement for all types of return travelers.

This could possibly come into force on August 1st.

Entry to Germany would then only be possible with a negative test result or proof of complete vaccination or recovery.
