The affair looks like a spy novel.
On July 16, the daughter of the Afghan ambassador to Islamabad was kidnapped as she returned home by taxi.
The young woman, in her twenties, was beaten for several hours before being abandoned on the side of the road and then transported to hospital.
The Minister of the Interior, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, promises a rapid investigation and the arrest of the culprits, then does an about-face on July 18:
“there was no kidnapping.
This is an international conspiracy hatched by RAW (the Indian spy agency) ”

The response from the Afghans was not long in coming.
The ambassador was recalled to Kabul the same day with other diplomats,
“as long as the threats to their security were not lifted.
This includes the arrest of the kidnappers and prosecution against them, ”
thundered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement.
On Wednesday, instead of appeasing the situation, Sheikh Rashid hit the nail on the head.
