The United States saw weaker-than-expected growth in the second quarter of 2021, but the economy has however surpassed its pre-pandemic level for the first time, according to the Commerce Department's first estimate, released Thursday.

The total amount of gross domestic product (GDP) has indeed exceeded that of the fourth quarter of 2019, which was the last not to have been penalized by the crisis caused by the Covid-19. The country recorded growth of 6.5% on an annualized basis, although much less than the 8.5% expected by analysts.
