President Alberto Fernández assured this Friday
the Organization of American States
(OEA)
"as it is, it does not work"
and attacked its secretary, Luis Almagro, by stating that he must make a "mea culpa" for
"the things he has done
.
"
The President had a harsh speech against the OAS when he participated in the virtual meeting for the Second Anniversary of the Puebla Group.
In addition, Fernández assured that the organization "was not a meeting place for Latin America" in recent years and that, instead, it functioned as "a sort
of gendarmerie squad to advance on the popular governments
" of the region, from of the imprint that former US President Donald Trump left on the body.
"What the OAS has done in Bolivia must necessarily be investigated and must necessarily be judged because now there is no doubt about what happened," said Fernández, referring to the removal of Evo Morales in 2019.

Pedro Castillo
as president
, Fernández had also targeted the OAS for his work in the region.
In dialogue with
C5N
, the President affirmed that the OAS "has ceased to be a body that functions and serves Latin America," so it is necessary to "recreate a new environment that better expresses" the region.
"Every day we do not stop being amazed by the things that happen in the OAS during Almagro's administration," said Fernández.
