Aleppo.. Honoring the winners of the Arab Mental Arithmetic Championship

Aleppo, SANA- The Aleppo Education Directorate honored the students of the City of Science School, the first winners of the Arab Championship for Mental Arithmetic

The Aleppo Education Directorate honored the students of the City of Science School, the first winners of the Arab Championship for Mental Arithmetic, which was held online in mid-July in Egypt under the auspices of the International Soroban Mental Arithmetic Federation, with the participation of 1505 children from 51 Arab and foreign countries.

The Director of Aleppo Education, Ibrahim Masso, explained to the SANA reporter the importance of mental arithmetic in enhancing the child’s scientific and comprehension skills due to his reliance on focus and conclusion, as it constitutes a first step towards developing and forming cases of creativity and excellence in him.

Majed Khazna, Director of the City of Science School, explained that the introduction of mental arithmetic into the enrichment curricula that is given in the school aims to stimulate the student's thought and enhance his mental abilities, stressing that the cooperation between the students' families and the educational staff in the school contributed to the first place for two years in a row.

SANA’s camera visited one of the school’s classes and looked closely at the mechanism of training children and enabling them to perform the mental arithmetic process. Trainer Ghadeer Khazna expressed her happiness that her students won the first place in the championship for the second year in a row from the city of Aleppo, in which 20 male and female students from different levels participated. Their victory is between the first and third in the world.

The student, Tala Hajj Muhammad, from the second grade, who won first place in the second level, indicated that mental arithmetic contributed to enhancing her self-confidence through her participation with her peers and enabled her to learn new methods of arithmetic.

The student, Massa Hajj Muhammad, from the fifth grade, who won the first place in the third level, expressed her interest in mental arithmetic because of its contribution to increasing her scientific skills and her ability to focus and draw conclusions.

Walaa Rajab Pasha, the mother of the two students, Massa and Tala Hajj Muhammad, indicated that she noticed their distinction in mental arithmetic, which prompted her to encourage them to develop their talents by creating a comfortable and appropriate atmosphere.

Heba Masso, the mother of the student Abdel Latif Masso, indicated that mental arithmetic contributes to strengthening memory, developing the student's ability to think, and enhancing his concepts of analysis and understanding.
