With the cry of fear “the fourth wave has begun”, the Robert Koch Institute is already heading for the next lockdown.

Let's not allow the panics to re-dominate the debate.

A comment by Georg Anastasiadis.

Germany is heading for its second Corona autumn, and because it will also be an elective autumn, some are now cooking their soup. Free voter boss Aiwanger hypocritically warns against a division of society into vaccinated and unvaccinated - and brings about exactly this by persuading the unvaccinated that they are victims of a "hunt". That doesn't help anyone but himself. RKI President Wieler does not do much better, trying to drive politics forward with the fearful cry “The fourth wave has begun”. As a reminder: the seven-day incidence yesterday was 16, and the infection was predominantly young people who are not affected by the virus and who immunize themselves naturally.

Right: The coronavirus has surprised us too often to take it lightly now. But talking the country back into panic mode and making it receptive to the next lockdown is foolish even for the head of the epidemic protection authority, who is obliged to exercise caution. He is still following a failed no-covid strategy that uses draconian measures to keep infections to a minimum, turns incidence into a fetish and makes us all permanent hostages of the pandemic. Now that the risk groups have been vaccinated, the central criterion must be the number of hospital admissions. As long as it remains manageable, even an incidence of 500 is not a catastrophe. Even the toughest virus fighters among our politicians should bewareTo deprive the vaccinated one more time of freedom. The time of the mental and governmental state of emergency must now be irrevocably over now that everyone had a vaccination offer.

Of course, it remains extremely important that even more citizens decide to vaccinate. Those who protect themselves and thus everyone else take a social responsibility. Anyone who, like Aiwanger, believes the opposite, evades this responsibility as a high representative of our community.
