The top candidate of the AfD for the federal election, Alice Weidel, has not yet been vaccinated and does not want to be vaccinated against the corona virus "for the foreseeable future".
She said that on Friday in the ZDF »Morgenmagazin«.
Weidel said further that it was not acceptable to her "that healthy unvaccinated people are discriminated against" and that she thinks nothing of an implicit vaccination requirement.
They consider the testing of returning travelers to be complete nonsense, vacationers need to be able to plan.
Weidel described the quarantine of those returning from traveling as "residential confinement".
Unlike Weidel, several top politicians of the AfD have already had themselves vaccinated.
These include Alexander Gauland, who heads the AfD parliamentary group together with Weidel, and party chairman Jörg Meuthen.
According to a recent poll by the research group Wahlen for the ZDF Politbarometer, the AfD is currently around 11 percent of the vote.
Söder ruffles Aiwanger
Bavaria's Minister of Economic Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister Hubert Aiwanger has not been vaccinated so far.
On Deutschlandfunk he spoke of a "hunt" for unvaccinated people.
For this, the head of the Free Voters had to take criticism, including from coalition partner CSU.
"I'm worried about him," said party leader Markus Söder in the SPIEGEL interview.
Even his own party was unhappy with Aiwanger, said Söder.
He walks a fine line. ”Regardless of the fact that it is wrong in the matter, the sound of the arguments is disturbing.
Anyone who believes they can ingratiate themselves with right-wing groups and lateral thinkers leaves the middle class and ends up hurting themselves «.
Söder also tried - the obviously unsuccessful - attempt to personally convince Aiwanger of a vaccination.
However, Söder does not want to end the coalition with Aiwanger's free voters.
