Covid-19: extension of the wearing of masks in Morbihan and Côtes-d'Armor

While more than 66% of the Breton population is vaccinated, the virus is actively circulating in the region and in particular among young people.


Due to the worsening health situation linked to Covid-19, the prefects of Morbihan and Côtes-d'Armor decided on Friday July 30 to extend the obligation to wear a mask in the two Breton departments.

In Morbihan, where there are notably important seaside resorts such as Carnac or Quiberon, the protective mask must be worn “

for anyone 11 years of age and over (...) in urban areas of coastal communities (...) and in agglomerations of municipalities with more than 5,000 inhabitants

”, according to a press release from the prefecture.

Wearing a mask is not however compulsory in large natural spaces and on the beach, specifies the prefecture.

The incidence rate is increasing in Brittany

Further north, in the Côtes-d'Armor, the Prefect has decided "

to extend this obligation to wear a mask to certain areas of the most touristy coastal towns from 9 am to 10 pm

", including Paimpol, Perros-Guirec, Bréhat, Erquy or Pléneuf-Val-André.

Since the end of June, the health situation has deteriorated in the Côtes d'Armor department with a significant increase in the incidence rate which has gone from 7.7 cases per 100,000 inhabitants on Sunday June 27 to 73.6 cases per 100,000 inhabitants on July 26,

”said the prefecture in its press release.

These provisions will be in force in the two Breton departments from August 1 to 31 inclusive, can we read in the two decrees.

In a press release published on Friday, the Brittany Regional Health Agency (ARS) notes that “

the incidence rate now stands at 101.3 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (+34.3 points in one week) at the regional level with a positivity rate of 2.8%

”.

The virus is actively circulating in Brittany.

The incidence rates are increasing throughout the Breton territory and particularly among young people

”, worries the ARS, specifying that the vaccination coverage of the Breton population reached 66.3% (at least one dose for all ages) .
