Around 1000 people came back then and campaigned for the goals of the initiative.
A lot has changed since then.
The movement changed its name to Bündnis Klima Germering and founded itself as an association.
And then the pandemic made large demos impossible and pushed the issue of climate protection backwards.

Michael Lorenz, pastor of the Dietrich Bonhoeffer Church, pointed this out to the alliance when greeting the visitors.
The urgency that something has to be done has become clear to everyone.
But it is now the wrong way to stir up fears.
It is much more important to show perspectives and to develop ideas and visions.
It was clear to Lorenz that the tasks ahead would be enormous.
That's why you have to think and act courageously.

Third Mayor Sophie Schuhmacher (Greens) was part of the action two years ago as an angry accuser with a hearty poetry slam.
This time she spoke as a representative of the city and chose perhaps more sedate words - although she was still angry that too little was happening.
Feel the climate change on site too
Germering is not in a flood area, but climate change can also be felt here, continued Schuhmacher. Stadtwerk chief Roland Schmid only recently explained to her that the groundwater had become one degree warmer in recent years. However, she also mentioned that the city had done a lot in the past few years. Last but not least, Germering has a permanent climate protection officer in Pascal Luginger. He had put together a long list for her in advance with everything that the municipality had already initiated in terms of climate protection. Schuhmacher's conclusion: “We are on the right track. But there are still many stones ahead of us. "

The possibility of the open microphone was used by SPD Bundestag candidate Carmen Wegge and Stefan Buchberger, student representative of the Carl-Spitzweg-Gymnasium.
Wegge said she was fighting for a progressive government in September that was more committed to climate protection.
High school graduate Buchberger said that he had campaigned for more climate protection at the school.
But he also suffered a defeat: His attempt to introduce a Veggie Day failed.
