More and more shipping companies are starting to offer cruises only to vaccinated travelers.

A company based in Germany is now following this example.

In January 2021, the British shipping company Saga became the first cruise company to announce that it would only take passengers on board who had been vaccinated.

The background in this case was probably that the shipping company specialized in guests over 50 years of age - an age group in which severe Covid-10 courses occur more frequently.

Meanwhile, however, more and more cruise companies are following suit.

Hapag-Lloyd Cruises also want to only allow vaccinated people on board from autumn.

From autumn, Hapag-Lloyd will only be offering vaccinated cruise guests

In the meantime, 51.5 percent of the German population are fully vaccinated, 61.5 percent have received at least one vaccination dose. Therefore, more and more shipping companies are starting to offer cruises only for vaccinated people. At Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, however,

only

guests who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19

will be allowed

on all trips

from autumn 2021

. The shipping company announced this on its website. All guests aged 18 and over are affected when they start their journey. Crew members will also be fully vaccinated. According to its own statements, the company is thus reacting to "already existing and foreseeable official vaccination requirements for cruise guests" in the targeted regions.

The first trip, which will only take place with vaccinated guests in autumn, is with the expedition cruise ship "Hanseatic nature", which will set off from Hamburg on September 9 for Reykjavik in Iceland.

This is followed by the luxury ship “Europa” from Hamburg to Mallorca on September 30th.

The "Europa 2" leaves Mallorca for Tenerife on October 3rd.

According to Hapag-Lloys Cruises, guests who received their second vaccination dose (or first vaccination dose with Johnson & Johnson)

at least 14 days ago

are considered fully vaccinated

.

In some driving areas, however, three to four weeks must have passed after a Johnson & Johnson vaccination.
