Yaniv Tuchman's report from the judo competition at the Olympics (our envoy to Tokyo)
After the political boycotts that accompanied the start of judo competitions in Tokyo, this morning (Friday) it became clear that it was possible otherwise: Tahani al-Kahtani, a Saudi judoka competing in the over 78 kg category, went into battle against the two Israeli Hershko despite the political pressure. They shook hands, and after Hershko defeated her on the iPhone, they finished him in a hug.
"I'm glad this fight happened," Hershko told the sports channel. "After the fight we talked a bit in the hallway but she did not want the media to document it.
We shook hands and hugged, we talked about the battle, about the situation in her country.
I told her I understood and that she was brave.
I'm glad she came up in the end in spite of everything and fought properly, glad that the sport won. "
