The middle school Oberding had 23 students in their senior year.

21 of them took part in the quality - all with success.

Oberding - Before her speech, class leader Ines Neidlinger played the Queen song "We Are The Champions".

Because these are the 23 graduates of the Oberding middle school who celebrated their graduation yesterday in the triple hall.

"When you hear this song, you think of an award ceremony in team sport," said Neidlinger, comparing her class with a team.

As the class leader, she herself is the trainer, the subject teachers are her co-trainers, the school principal is the club's president.

"And we all agree: you deserve to be on the podium."

Because the middle school is happy about a 100 percent success: All 21 qualification participants passed the exam.

Two students did not accept this check for qualifying high school diploma in part though.

Headmaster Johann Deschu assured, however, that the two of them will also have an apprenticeship position from September 1st.

"The overall result is optimal.

A 100 percent success rate - you can be proud of that, ”says Deschu.

Class leader Neidlinger, who has been supervising the senior year for two years, looked back on the challenges of the corona pandemic.

"From one day to the next our training grounds were closed, we had to work out new tactics from a distance." But the school and the community rushed to help.

The gym was turned into a classroom and the young people were able to prepare for the final spurt in a corona-compliant manner.

At one point or another she had to do some motivational work, but now, she admitted, “when I see your success, it probably wasn't necessary at all.

You had the right tactics. ”The endurance athletes anyway.

But even the sprinters would have adjusted their tactics wonderfully before the home straight and would now stand on the winners' podium to stick with Bild Sport.

Oberding's Mayor Bernhard Mücke spoke of a “more than respectable achievement”.

When he thinks back on his own school days, he thinks about the difficulties of graduation.

At the time, he approached school easily and before graduation he noticed: There are still deficits and they are very difficult to catch up shortly before the end.

The fact that the middle school students managed the whole thing under difficult conditions gives them courage for the future: "You have shown that you can master everything."

At the end of the graduation ceremony, the students themselves had prepared an insert: “Do you remember when we were in middle school 20 years ago?” In a relaxed atmosphere, they remembered their school days together from 2041, full of funny anecdotes.
