Russia has expressed its readiness to receive and ensure the safe residence of international observers during the elections to the Russian Duma.
“Russia is ready to receive and ensure the safe stay of international observers and provide them with all necessary organizational, technical and legal conditions for the performance of their tasks, and invitations have already been sent or will be sent to several hundred international observers,” Sputnik news agency quoted the ambassador for special tasks at the Russian Foreign Ministry, Gennady Askaldovich, as saying.
"Of course, international monitors must comply with all requirements established by the Consumer Protection Agency (Rosputrebnadzor) to combat the coronavirus," he added.
Russia expects to receive observers from international organizations such as the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State Belarus-Russia, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Basin Economic Cooperation, the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy as well as a number of One of the international organizations specialized in electoral bodies.
Voting in the State Duma and other elections will take place from the 17th to the 19th of next September. The decision of the Central Elections Committee includes holding the Duma elections for a period of five years under a mixed electoral system, where 225 deputies are elected from party lists and another 225 deputies from constituencies with One state in one round.
