The Japanese government opened the new coronavirus pneumonia (COVID-19) vaccine passport application this Monday (26th), and today (30) updated the arrangements for people to go abroad with Japanese vaccine passports, which can be applied to seven regions including Hong Kong.
For those who have been vaccinated to enter Hong Kong, the quarantine period will be reduced by 7 days to only 14 days.
However, for the time being, Hong Kong is still banning non-residents from entering, and Japan has not restored visa-free entry for Hong Kong residents.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan previously announced that holding a vaccine passport from the local area to Italy, Austria, Turkey, Bulgaria and Poland can be exempted from isolation and virus testing, and negotiated with other countries or regions on the Japanese vaccine passport plan.
South Korea regards the Japanese vaccine passport as one of the conditions for exemption from quarantine.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today that the Japanese vaccine passport is applicable to seven new regions, including Hong Kong, Saint Christopher and Nevis, Saint Vincent, the four islands of Thailand, Germany, Lithuania and Honduras.
However, Hong Kong currently lists Japan as a high-risk area, Zone B, and people who have been vaccinated still need to be quarantined at a quarantine hotel, but the number of days can be reduced from 21 to 14.
