Fortunately, Corona has had little on the old-timer friends Giggenhausen-Schaidenhausen.

Now it was finally possible to make up for the general meeting.

Giggenhausen

- In the past year and a half, the corona pandemic has led many clubs to withdraw or to a standstill.

Fortunately, this does not apply to the Oldtimerfreunde Giggenhausen-Schaidenhausen association, which was founded in 2009.

This year's Annual General Meeting was originally planned for February, and celebrations and popular trips could not be held in the usual way.

But, as association chairman Richard Meier explained to over 40 members at the postponed general meeting in the Metzgerwirt: "We have already done a little - and also made a difference."

Two councilors are new members

“To move” is meant literally, as small journeys in motion for the four-wheeled collector's items or a destination journey to congratulate on upcoming birthdays, for example.

Meier particularly welcomed the two Neufahrn local councilors Silke Rößler and Franz Langwieser, not only in their political function, but also as new members.

This means that the number of classic car enthusiasts has grown to 178.

Mayor Franz Heilmeier probably spoke from the hearts of everyone present when he gave his greeting: “It's nice to be able to meet again in person.

This is especially true for an association in which the love of technical finesse meets intensive cooperation and a feeling of togetherness. "

In his outlook on upcoming plans and activities, Chairman Meier was cautious as a precaution in view of the uncertain corona developments.

A club-internal summer party in its machine hall is planned for the beginning of September - possibly.

In his closing remarks, the club boss thanked landlady Elisabeth Kratzer, who has been running the butcher's landlord since 1999, with a large bouquet of flowers.

80th birthday gift

At this point, the official part of the meeting would normally have passed seamlessly into a cozy get-together. But then, completely surprising for the chairman, Treasurer Toni Siegl spoke up again. On behalf of the board and all members, he later congratulated Richard Meier on his 80th birthday, which had already been in December, and now brought belated congratulations and a community gift "to the man".

In his humorous laudation, Siegl also found the right personal words for the “senior oldtimer” at the top of the club: “How do you make someone happy who has been with the club since the club was founded in 2009? Who provides his own premises for large events such as classic car meetings or the ten-year anniversary? Who set up eleven tractors as if they were fresh from the factory? Who turns a Porsche tractor, which would have only minimal value even for a scrap metal dealer, into a real masterpiece? ”As a fitting answer, Siegl presented a voucher that also thought of Meier's wife Änni, who always had a great deal of understanding for the weakness of her husband on old vehicles. The gift is a voucher for a classic car day trip including a visit to a pub of your choice for the couple. "Our Richard identifies not only with the club, but also with the Bavarian food culture," explained Toni Siegl with a wink.

Until the very end, the treasurer had, as the icing on the cake, canceled Richard Meier's appointment as an honorary member of the Oldtimerfreunde and presented him with the certificate of honor for his special services.
